Southern Ionian Regatta
17th & 18th September 2025

Started in 1979 the relaunched Southern Ionian Regatta has become a key event for the Ionian sailing community offers a great couple of days of racing for those of all levels. The 2025 event will take place on Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th September with a feeder race on the first day and a main event on the second, culminating in huge party in Syvota (Lefkada) with live music and prizes from the 2 days of racing. The racing itself is run on handicap for yachts of all types with prizes for those all through the fleet. Quite simply it’s a whole lot of fun for all involved!

Day 1 Feeder Race
Our first days racing will start off Vounaki marina in Palairos with a 12.30 briefing and a 14.00 start. The planned course will be to pass Agia Nikolaus Island to port then Sparti island to starboard before finishing off Nikiana. There will be live music and food available at Breath of Zorbas taverna in the evening and spaces to moor off the taverna or in Nikiana harbour. For those hoping to stay the night before there will be spaces available in Vounaki Marina. Full details in the Notice of Race.
Day 2 main Race
The main race will use the classic regatta course, starting in the Meganisi straight before heading around Arkoundi and to a finish line off Syvota. There will be a briefing in Nikiana at 11.30 in the morning which will also be broadcast live online. Full details in the Notice of Race.

Final details are yet to be confirmed but the whole village will come alive with live music from a number of local bands along with the prize giving for the sailing events. You can find full details on our socials page.
how to enter
To enter your yacht in the regatta register your interest on the form below and your entry will be confirmed on receipt of the entry fee. The entry fee is €35 for both races, €15 for the feeder race and €25 for the main race (plus £5 extra for on the day entry). If you are looking for crew or would like a boat to sail we will provide opportunities for this through whatsapp and facebook soon.
